Cordus Mundi Choral Scholar

The Choral Scholar is a funded position given to a Bucks County area college undergraduate/graduate music student or recent graduate of a music program. The position provides the student the experience of singing with an accomplished choir, hopefully fostering a lifelong involvement with choral music. The responsibilities of the Choral Scholar are as follows:

            * Attend all Cordus Mundi rehearsals

            * Practice and prepare music for rehearsal each week

            * Sing as a member of Cordus Mundi at all concerts & ancillary programs

            * Contractually commit to rehearsing and singing the entire 2023-2024 season

            * Thoughtfully invite/recruit other students/associates to audition to sing in Cordus Mundi

            * Thoughtfully invite/recruit other students/associates to attend Cordus Mundi performances

Cordus Mundi
14-18 member male choir with strong musical capacity, good sight-reading skills, and an evident enjoyment in making music together. Music sung ranges in style from plainchant to the best of modern choral music. Cordus Mundi presents three to four main concerts per season. Rehearsals are on Mondays in Solebury, PA from 7-9 p.m.

Thoughtful Participation
It is the goal of Cordus Mundi to connect more tangibly with the student population in our geographic area. The Choral Scholar will thoughtfully consider ways they can invite their student network’s participation in our music as potential group members or audience members.

Qualifications
            * Interested and available to be a visible, contributing member of the Cordus Mundi community
            * Strong and pleasing ensemble voice
            * High level of musicianship and skill (sight-reading, vocal production, etc.)
            * Good communication skills
            * Good group interaction skills

Compensation
This position pays a 10-month stipend of $150 to $200 per month from September through June, based on experience, payable on or about the first of each month following service.

Audition
Audition interviews for this position take place during the summer and in the first week in September. The position is held September through June and may be renewed for successive years if both the Choral Scholar and the Cordus Mundi board of directors mutually agree.
